• We are asking for all Girl Scouts—girls, volunteers, alums, supporters, families, staff, and our suppliers and service providers—to commit to taking action to make the world a more equitable place.
• We’ve invested time and resources to review and change policies to ensure inclusivity.
• We continue to grow our professional learning library and other opportunities so that our caring adults can learn about DEI in multiple ways.
• We created Mentored Troop grants so that more girls have the opportunity to be part of ethnically diverse Girl Scout troops led by volunteer troop leaders of color.
• We invested in accessibility improvements at Girl Scouts of Central Indiana properties.
• We added an accessibility widget to our website to improve viewing capabilities for our visually impaired users.
• We translated more Girl Scout materials into Spanish language.
• We trained under the Indiana Youth Group to understand inclusivity in the LGBTQIA+ community so that we can create safer spaces for all youth.
- We added Progress Pride flag decals throughout our facilities.
- We added gender-neutral restrooms at all our properties, and gender-neutral changing areas at our properties with water activities.
- Our Girl Scout summer camp staff has access to “you are safe with me” buttons.
- We made period products available for free in all restrooms.
• We dedicated time and resources to reaching diverse communities.
• We joined the Business Equity Indy collaborative initiative.
• We are undergoing a process to update our website, forms, employee handbook, and communications to use inclusive language.
• We added our DEI statement to all job and volunteer opportunity descriptions and postings.
•We recommended that all staff add their pronouns to their e-mail signatures.
• We continue to collaborate with Girl Scouts of the USA on nationwide DEI strategies.
• We’ve encouraged our staff to include their pronouns upon introduction when introducing themselves to Girl Scouts.
• We've committed to including closed captioning in our videos whenever the capability exists.
