Girl Coalition of Indiana is a statewide, girl-focused social innovation initiative inspired by the six Girl Scouts councils serving girls across Indiana. For generations, Girl Scouts has made a positive impact in the lives of girls who participate and local communities. Girl Scouts works – it helps girls build courage, confidence and character regardless of background or ability. Girl Co., is working to make sure every girl has access to the opportunities provided by Girl Scouts.
This partnership goes beyond helping girls enroll in Girl Scouts. Girl Co. serves as both a social incubator and the research and advocacy partner for Girl Scouts. guided by five core values: innovation, advocacy, impact, empathy, and equity in all our work.
Social Incubator
Girl Co. is uplifting the needs of girls across Indiana, especially those in marginalized communities across the state. By partnering with individual, local communities, Girl Co. develops new, innovative models that are accessible and equitable to engage all girls. Designed to meet the unique needs of girls and remove barriers, these programs help them develop the skills they need to thrive. Drawing inspiration from the proven Girl Scouts curriculum, these initiatives fulfill Girl Co.’s mission to enable every girl in Indiana to live her best life physically, academically, emotionally, and socially.
Research and Advocacy
To boldly advocate for systemic change for all girls, Girl Co. conducts, shares, and acts on research. The result is the groundbreaking Indiana Girl Report, an annual report created by Girl Coalition of Indiana in partnership with Girl Scouts and the Indiana Youth Institute, which serves as the cornerstone of our advocacy work. Once these barriers and areas for improvement are identified, Girl Co. brings the challenges girls in Indiana face to the forefront of the conversation. We utilize our research to educate stakeholders and implement change. Through research and advocacy, we can remove barriers and build a better future for all girls.
“How are girls really faring in Indiana?” The answer, it turns out, is quite complicated.
