This guide is designed to support busy, on-the-go troop volunteers. Inside you will find details and information to help you get started on your newest adventure—being an awesome leader for girls. We recommend that you begin by browsing the sections below and come back throughout the year to find answers to your questions as they arise. Ready to get started? Let’s go!
We’ve got you covered.
As a new leader, we realize you may have questions and feel unsure about first steps. Don’t worry! You will soon meet a new leader manager who will call you shortly after you’ve been approved to be a troop leader. She will be your first contact for questions and support. Girl Scouts of Central Indiana is also fortunate to have incredible volunteers who remember what that first year is like. In many service units there is a new leader mentor, a volunteer who will help you with your parent meeting, sit with you at the service unit meeting and be there to share their own experiences of leading a troop.
Check out the New Leader’s Guide to Success. This resource will help define your role, show how to get your families involved, and give you the tools you need to lead a successful troop.
