You have the power to improve your community through action

Ready to help your community and earn one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting? Cadettes can team up with a small group of fellow Girl Scouts or work on their own. To earn the Silver Award, you will research an issue you care about, make a plan to address it, and then take action to improve your community.

We do not require preapproval for Silver Awards at this time. We believe that our Troop Leaders can determine if their Troops project(s) meet the requirements without an additional barrier.

You can become a Silver Award Girl Scout if you:

Are in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade
Are a registered Girl Scout Cadette
Have completed the Bronze Award, a Cadette Leadership Award, or a Cadette Journey

How to earn the Girl Scout Silver Award

Step 1: Complete the Striving for Silver training in gsLearn
Step 2: Build a team (up to 4 Girl Scouts per team) or decide to go solo
Step 3: Explore the community and find an issue you care about

Step 4: Develop your project plan and ensure your Silver Award can lead to a lasting change
Step 5: Put your plan into motion
Step 6: Reflect, share your story and submit your Final Report (every Girl Scout must submit a final report)

Important Dates:

Silver Awards must be submitted by September 30, after they have completed 8th grade to be eligible.
All Awards must be turned in no later than March 31 to be included in that year's United We Lead Celebration.
- If it is turned in on April 1 or after, you will be included in the next year's celebration.
