Change the world, Girl Scout
Gold Award Girl Scouts are rock stars, role models, and real-life heroes. How do they do it? By using everything they’ve learned as a Girl Scout to solve a problem in their community or make a lasting change in their world.
Seniors and Ambassadors who want to go for the Gold Award build a team of trusted adults, peers, and leaders in their community to guide them through challenges and support their success.
Plus? Nothing beats that feeling of seeing real, lasting, and sustainable change and knowing it was you who made it happen. It changes the way you see your place in the world—and how the world sees you.
You can become a Gold Award Girl Scout if you:
- Are in ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade
- Are a registered Girl Scout Senior or Ambassador
- Have completed the Silver Award, a Senior/Ambassador Leadership Award, or a Senior/Ambassador Journey

How to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award
Step 1: Complete the Going for Gold Training in gsLearn
Step 2: Create your account in GoGold (all Gold Awards must be submitted and tracked through GoGold)
Step 3: Find an issue in your community that you are passionate about
Step 4: Research your issue and find trusted sources in your community
Step 5: Build your team (this should be 3-5 people outside of your family and Girl Scouts who live in your community and/or have an expertise on the issue you aim to address)
Step 6: Develop a project plan that addresses the root cause of the issue you have chosen
- Step 7: Submit your Project Proposal to our Girl Scout Council (it can take between 2-4 weeks to hear back on your project proposal)
- Step 8: lead your team and implement your project
- Step 9: Reflect on the Change you have created in your community and Submit your final report (it can take between 2-4 weeks to hear back on your final report)
