The number of volunteering spots varies by show, depending on the need. Each Volunteer Spot on the spreadsheet is ONE pair of Scout and chaperone. There are spaces for 2-4 Scouts (and accompanying chaperone) per night, depending on the show. We ask that everyone signs up for a shift prior to the day of each performance, so we can plan for what help we will have. Once you have signed up, please email klthompson@irtlive.com to confirm.
In this program, we would require that Cadette and Senior Scouts be accompanied by an adult chaperone. Ambassador Scouts can either be accompanied by an adult chaperone, or come on their own.
We also ask that NO others come with the Scout and chaperone. This includes siblings, friends, additional Scouts, etc.
The times on the spreadsheet are when you would start as the performance begins an hour after the time listed. Please plan on arriving 5-10 minutes early so they have time to park and get into the theatre.
Once you arrive, you will be handing out programs to our patrons, while our regular volunteers would take care of ushering patrons to their seats. We ask that you wear nice clothes, preferably no jeans. A few minutes before the show starts, you will be able to take your seats in the theatre and watch the performance. The Scouts and their Chaperones will also be given a parking voucher that would make parking $6 or $12, depending on where you park. The Embassy Suites parking garage, located next to the theatre, will accept the $12 voucher. The Circle Center Mall garages will accept the $6 voucher. I will be happy to sign whatever paperwork is required to show that the Scouts did their volunteer hours.
One last note - I would ask that the chaperones check the content advisory listed for each show at the following link, just to be sure the subject matter is suitable for the Scout. If it is not, you do have the option to not see the show, and still volunteer beforehand to get your hours. We want to make sure that the Scouts and their chaperones have a good experience, and that they are comfortable with the performances they are seeing. https://www.irtlive.com/students-and-educators/student-matinees
