Get the information and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and respond to small boat emergencies. You must be able to:
- Should understand the basics of using a canoe and have some previous canoe experience
- Swim at least 25 yards (with a life jacket and then again without a life jacket)
- Tread water for at least 1 minute without a life jacket
- Demonstrate boat handling skills
