Stempower - Purdue University
o Description: Stempower is a STEM-focused mentoring student organization at Purdue University that strives to empower the next generation of confident, resilient women in STEM. Find out more about us on our website, and please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns!
o Programs offered:
Virtual 1:1 Mentoring - This program matches one Scout to one Stempower mentor and is recommended for older children (3rd grade and up). Based on your individual schedule, your Scout and a Stempower mentor will meet regularly throughout the year to share fun STEM experiences, develop a strong mentor-mentee bond and fulfill badge requirements.
Virtual Troop Mentoring - If your group has decided to host virtual meetings, this is your program! Stempower will connect your group with inspiring student mentors once a month for a total of four-five meetings. Mentors will lead fun STEM activities to fulfill badge requirements and earn the Stempower patch. Your mentoring dates, between September and April, will be coordinated individually upon acceptance and are typically scheduled during your regular meeting times.
STEM Around the City - With the help of local children, Stempower is compiling a list of places in Tippecanoe County (e.g. your house/neighborhood, parks, downtown, Purdue, etc.) where you may explore STEM in the everyday world. The submissions will be compiled in a shareable booklet. More information on submission guidelines will be provided upon sign-up for this program.
Outdoor, Physically Distanced Activities - Stempower is considering the option of hosting outdoor, STEM-based events (like scavenger hunts, STEM walks, sidewalk STEM, etc.) to get away from the screen! All children would need to be accompanied by an adult and would be required to adhere to appropriate safety protocols.
Please complete the following application by September 12th to sign-up for a program(s): Stempower Fall 2020 Girl Scout Application (https://forms.gle/DkqVViE5vgDKM7do6).
