Camp Gallahue consists of more than 800 acres of relaxing property in Brown County, near Morgantown, IN. The camp is located about 30 minutes northeast of Bloomington and just over an hour south of the Indianapolis service center. The property includes beautiful hills, an abundance of trees, and a lake.
Dudley Gallahue Valley Camps
Tent units (Ardath, Art Colony, Village and Reservation)
Each unit consists of a large activity cabin with 10 nearby platform tents (each platform tent contains 4 cots with mattresses). Sanitary facilities: pit latrines, enclosed and partitioned. Cabins have modern kitchens and substantial activity space to be shared by troops staying in the unit for get-togethers, cooking, etc. Equipment included in each unit area cabin: fireplace, 5 tables and chairs (seating 8 each), gas furnace (Ardath and Art Colony only, have a gas furnace). Kitchen: triple sinks with hot and cold running water, electric refrigerator/freezer, gas range/oven, four burners and griddle, storage cabinets, and a work table.
Georgies' Place at Hillcrest: 3 wings each consisting of sleeping room with cots and mattresses, private restroom and showers, table and chairs, and modern kitchen with gas furnace. (Wing 1 has 14 beds, Wing 2 has 12 beds, Wing 3 has 14 beds) sleeping room with cots/mattresses, private restroom and showers, tables and chairs, modern kitchen. (There are 5 fire bowls near Hillcrest for troops/groups to use).
Lodge: large institutional kitchen (seating for 200 people) women’s and men’s restrooms, and heat for year-round use, fireplace, and a deck overlooking the lake. Basement: (available for reservation alone) has sleeping mats for 50 people, 2 fireplaces (one inside and one outside), one shower, two separate restrooms, and a modern kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, range, microwave, and double sink, and is heated for year-round use.
Harleys' Hill-Adirondack Unit: Three-sided shelter for sleeping, picnic-style shelter (located behind Art Colony) with tables, a pit latrine, and fire bowl. No electricity or water. Sleeps a total of 20 people/4 huts each sleeping 5 people.
Primitive Camping Sites: Large capacity, fire bowls, fire grates, and picnic tables. Water is available from a pump located in the center of the valley. Sanitary facilities: pit latrines, enclosed and partitioned, located at each end of the valley. Two-person tents are available for reservation through the Girl Scout service center, or groups may provide their own camping equipment.
Showers: A central camp shower (all showers are individual) with hot and cold running water is available for your use April through November. The shower house is located near the Lodge. Portable toilets are also located near the beach area.
Picnic area: Available for day use. Sanitary facilities: pit latrines, enclosed and partitioned, located at each end of the valley.
