Service and the Gift of Caring
| The Gift of Caring program is a terrific way for girls and their customers to help others in their community. Girls, as a troop, choose a charitable organization to accept a donation of cookies. Girls within the troops do research to sure their chosen charity accepts food donations. During order taking and at Booth Sales, girls ask customers to purchase additional boxes of cookies for the troop to donate to their chosen partner. Customers may not give girls/troops money to give directly to the charity but girls can collect payment for Gift of Caring Cookies as the order is placed. This is the ONLY time money can be collected as an order is placed. Customers can be given a Thank You Form for their support. |

A plan for distributing the cookies to the charity needs to be worked out. As a troop activity, each girl can make a card explaining the program and their charity partner and attach it to their order card. Clip art with the Gift of Caring logo is available from the GSCI website on the cookie pages.
Remember, this is a troop activity. The Council does not make arrangements for shipping or distribution of donated boxes of cookies. Patches for the Gift of Caring are available for purchase in all GSCI Shops. Troops set the requirements for earning the patch to meet the troop's service project goals. |
